Pinnawala Open Zoo
Pinnawala Open Zoo is a zoological garden in Pinnawala, Sri Lanka which is located in Kegalle-Rambukkana road close to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. It was opened for public on 17th April 2015. This is the first open air zoo which is still under construction to a certain extent.
The zoo has two main sections such as Srilankan zone for local endemic species of animals and the world zone. The land of 44 acres of the zoo has divided into 15 components but only 9 are active as the constructions are still underway.
The tickets are available for reasonable prices for local and foreign visitors and electic buggies are also available with guides for a reasonable cost.
A pet garden consists of fish, tortoises, ducks and rabbits is such a pleasant area with lush green. These innocent animals roam freely and have their food.
The pond of swans is also an eye catching sight where there are two pairs of white and black swans. Not only that beautiful species of chirping birds while having bath also can be seen there.

The park area of deer is such a shady area for deer where you can see the various species of deer such as Srilankan Sambar deer, Hog deer, Barking deer, Mouse deer and Ceylon Spotted deer.
The park area of crocodiles and other possible amphibians is also a solemn water area to visit. A few pictures of crocodiles, the information on the ecological system related to them and their distribution, the bone structure of a crocodile are there for visitors to see in glass wallpapers.
The leopard watching area and the bear watching area are another two areas where you will enjoy the sight of playful actions of them.
Though there are still a few number of animals, this place is available with a plenty of required facilities and you'll be happy to see such a clean and calm environment if you visit there. The authority provides a cordial service and the zoo itself is a knowledge center to learn about endemic animals of Srilanka and other animal species.
