Kanneliya Forest Reserve

Kanneliya Forest Reserve is located in the Galle district in the Southern Province. It is one of the largest forests reserves with high biodiversity in Sri Lanka.

There are many streams inside the forest which add life to the vegetation. These streams create several beautiful cascades. There is high rainfall in May to July and again in October to November which is the ideal time to see these beautiful waterfalls. Anagimale falls is the closest waterfall to the entrance of the forest reserve. When you go litte deeper into the forest you can see the waterfall Narangas Ella.

There are about 301 plant species, 133 animal species and 59 species of birds at Kanneliya that makes the forest reserve rich in biodiversity. Kanneliya is the best place for hiking.
